How We Build Your Deck or Dock

From the first site visit to the last coat of sealer — here’s exactly what to expect.

STEP 01

Free Site Visit & Design

We meet you at the shoreline or in the backyard, measure the site, check water depth and the bank, and sketch a design around how you actually use the lake — boat size, swimming, fishing, sunset seating. You get a written quote before anything else happens.

  • Drawings sized to TVA and county rules from day one
  • Firm price, not an estimate that grows

STEP 02

Permits: TVA 26a & County

Any structure on Watts Bar or Melton Hill needs a TVA Section 26a permit; decks attached to your house need a Roane County building permit. We prepare the site plan and application, submit it, and answer TVA’s questions. You sign; we do the rest.

  • TVA review typically takes 4–8 weeks — we start it immediately
  • Materials are ordered while the permit is in review

STEP 03

Posts, Footings & Framing

Posts are set plumb on footings or driven to solid bottom, framed with treated joists on galvanized hangers, and blocked for the loads a full boat slip or a crowded deck party puts on it. This is the part you never see and the part that decides how long it lasts.

  • Ground-contact and marine-rated pressure-treated lumber
  • Hot-dip galvanized or stainless fasteners — no rust streaks

Decking, Sealer & Walk-Through

Deck boards go down with coated screws, railings, benches, cleats, and ladders are installed, then everything is sealed or stained. We haul away every scrap, walk you through the finished project, and hand you the warranty paperwork.

  • Cedar, composite, or treated decking — your choice
  • 5-year workmanship warranty on every build
